Adoption Professionals: Interview, Take Notes, Look for Red-Flag Statements

with the professional, and take notes!"

Here's a summary of Red-flag statements you may hear from an adoption professional. Remember to not be intimidated because they are "professionals!" You know your child's heart better than anyone. You are going for help with your child's painful past. Make an appointment! Interview the potential therapist. Here are the red-flag statements.

• Why would you adopt such kids?
• What did you expect when you decided to take these kids in?
• You shouldn't take their behavior personally
• You could always send them back!
• Bottom line: Listen to your hearts, parents! You are the expert when it comes to knowing your child. I love the Scripture that says we are to let the peace of God rule in our hearts. Can't find the address for Scripture right now...maybe you can. In other words, peace in your heart is to be like an umpire calling the shots. When in doubt--DON'T!
